Floating Poison on Holiday

A wind-swept rain island,
the green sea turtles come home to nest.

Crystal waters sparkle in the sun,
down below elegant turtles’ dance.

Shell of yellow, gold, and green.
Beautiful jewel of the reef.
See the sea turtle swim.

Peaceful creature,
gentle soul, kind curious eyes.
Trusting.

On the sand she finds her way,
lays her eggs,
but she cannot stay.

In the water she roams free,
‘What’s this strange jelly fish floating near me?’
Poison plastic man-made thing!

Chelonioidea order of the Testudines - reptile creature.
We hold them, in our plastic world
Unable to dive, they cannot thrive!
Humans created this disease -
the Floating syndrome.

See the sea turtle, gliding curiously
reaches her long neck
to the mysterious jelly fish.

Human hand plunges through water,
Wet shrivelled plastic bag – it will live forever,
The jewel of the reef swims away.
